STEP 1 — Remove stem
Loosen the stem pinch bolts, then remove the top cap.

STEP 2 — Remove stem & spacers
Slide the stem off the steerer tube.
Remove spacers, compression ring, and dust seals, keeping them in order.
Tip: Use a cable tie to keep everything together.

STEP 3 — Remove fork & old bearings
Lower the fork out of the frame (a gentle tap may help).
Remove the upper and lower bearings and any remaining seals.

STEP 4 — Clean & prepare
Clean the bearing cups, crown race, and all parts using degreaser.
Dry thoroughly.

STEP 5 — Install new bearings
Lightly grease the crown race and fit the lower bearing.
Refit the fork, then grease and install the top bearing.
Chamfered outer edge always faces into the frame.

STEP 6 — Reassemble & preload
Refit compression ring, seals, spacers, and stem.
Install the top cap and gently tighten until play is removed.
Do not over-tighten.

STEP 7 — Align, torque & test
Align the bars, tighten stem bolts evenly to torque spec.
Bounce the bike and check for play.
If smooth and knock-free, you’re ready to ride.
